Willamette Girlchoir has a long history of traveling during the summer months to further expand the musical experience and growth of the choristers. The Touring Choir has traveled to England for the Bournemouth Music Makers Festival as well as the Shrewsbury Festival. Performing twelve concerts in fourteen days was life changing and world expanding. New York was the next stop with a performance at Carnegie Hall. It’s history made an everlasting impression and served to inspire the future goals of many. Wherever we go we hope to make a difference as people creating beauty through song. Summer of 2003 found 15 choristers spending a week at the University of Oregon working with Dr. Sandra Snow on a beautiful work “I Dream of Peace,” by Robert Jager. They performed opening night of the Pacific Northwest Children’s Festival and received many wonderful comments on the “beauty of their sound” as well as the creativity of programming from chorister, and conductor Dr. Snow. What a growing and bonding experience for all. The summer of 2004 found us venturing farther from home to Prague, the Czech Republic as well as Vienna and Salzburg, Austria.
Summer of 2005, 30 choristers traveled to Disneyland and performed at Magic Music Days. Summer of 2006, we will hold our first summer Opera Camp July 24 through August 11.
